Fred J. Murray, SCLS/SCSM

Senior Vice President of Leasing

As Senior Vice President of Leasing for The Harlem Irving Companies, Fred Murray is responsible for the leasing of retail and commercial space within all properties owned and managed by the company. His breadth of responsibility includes anchor stores, enclosed mall in-line space, community centers, outparcels and office space.

Murray began his extensive career 32 years ago, as Property Manager for The Edward J. DeBartolo Corporation, then the country’s leading shopping center developer and operator. In subsequent positions at First Union Real Estate, Metro National Corporation and The Tucker Companies, Murray gained multi-property management experience in a variety of geographic regions. In 1988, he joined the Hilton Hotels Corporation as Director of Leasing for the Central Region. There, he expanded his repertoire to include leasing of unique commercial space within airport, urban and resort property venues. Murray joined the Harlem Irving Companies in 1993.

In addition to his vocational responsibilities, Murray taught property management at the community college level for several years. He contributed his expertise to the International Council of Shopping Centers by assisting with the writing of the ICSC’s Certified Shopping Center Manager’s exam. In 1997, the City of Chicago’s Department of Planning invited Murray to join other leading real estate professionals to produce an overview of the retail development on State Street, after its reopening.
