This 131,159 s.f. retail center is situated at the intersection of Irving Park Road and Narragansett Avenue on Chicago’s Northwest side and serves a dense population of 344,000 residents. It is anchored by Jewel/Osco and T.J. Maxx, with 25 regional, local and national retailers and 542 parking spaces. Adjacent to several light industrial and office parks and Chicago’s Wright College, Dunning Square draws a steady flow of local and visiting traffic.

Development History

In 1987, the Harlem Irving Companies embarked upon a multi-year/multi- use initiative commonly known as Read Dunning Development; located in Chicago, at Irving Park Road and Narragansett Avenue.

This large scale project includes Dunning Square shopping center, Glenlake Condominiums (both Harlem Irving owned and developed) and an industrial property component known as the Wright Campus Business Park.

The Harlem Irving organization led the development team in negotiating the acquisition of sites and entitlements, while spearheading the retail and residential components of this unique in-city planned venture.

The Read Dunning undertaking evolved over a fifteen year period and was a model public/private effort; as various agencies representing the State of Illinois, City of Chicago and Village of Norridge all were stakeholders or participants in the project.

When completed Read Dunning consisted of approximately 130,000 square feet of retail and over 600 residential units. The Wright Business Park is home to such long standing Chicago names as Eli’s Cheesecake, Chicago Paper Tube and Can Company, Columbia Craft, Paasche Airbrush Company and Spectra Merchandising International.
